I have been asked lately about the oil mix I use in my soaps. I use a combo of many oils, however I use Coconut oil at 30% in all my recipes. If I have folks that are allergic to this oil I can sub Babassu oil for the Coconut. Coconut oil has exploded in popularity over the past few years, and with good reason. It’s made of primarily medium-chain fatty acids, so coconut oilsis easily digested and converted into energy in the body. It also contains lauric acid, which has been linked to amazing health benefits. It has anti-viral, antibacterial, anit-microbial, and anti-fungal properties. So, what is out there?? Virgin, Refined, Liquid, RBD or Refined, Bleached and Deodorized, Organic, Hydrogenated, Extra Virgin. What do I use? I use Organic 92 degree in all of my products. We even use Coconut Oil to make our own toothpaste. Here is our family recipe:
Natural Toothpaste Recipe
½ cup coconut oil
2-3 tablespoons baking soda
15-30 drops of peppermint, lemon, or thieves essential oil
This is so much better for you than the commercial variety!
